Twister

TWISTER EP

Twister might want to consider a name change before they get much further – a quick Google search for images threw up other bands with the same name (including one who look like they could dish out a severe beating to these young boys) and assorted other references that will surely prevent people from stumbling upon them. To make things worse, iTunes identified this CD as being by Black Attack!

Musically, the band certainly have what it takes for commercial success – it’s rock music, but distinctly unthreatening rock – with plenty of hooks and frontman Stevie Stoker’s confident vocals, it’s easy to see a track like Satellite crossing over to the pop kids. The other tracks – Charlie’s Fallen, Watch Over You – are a little more laboured, but still have a bouncy vibrancy about them, and closer Chicago 69 is smoothly commercial, sounding more like an American soft rock action than four lads from Durham. A decent opening effort from a band that could do decent things once they carve out a more unique identity for themselves.
