Problems
continue to mount surrounding A
Serbian Film.
Angel
Sala, director of the Sitges Film Festival, is facing
prosecution in Spain on child pornography charges
after showing the film in October. This is despite
the fact that the two scenes inquestion were both
staged with no children involved (as admitted by Britain's
censors, just before they cut both scenes from the
film). What's more, these scenes take place off-screen.
Despite
this, Sala is facing prosecution for showing the film.
Naturally, this has caused outrage amongst fellow
festival director, many of whom have signed a letter
condemning the Public Prosecutor's actions.
How
this will play out is anyone's guess. But it seems
that the controversy surrounding this film isn't going
away any time soon.
