The UK’s Horror Channel has announced another themed season of films for November, this time focusing on ‘banned’ movies.

Season of the Banned includes the TV premiere of the documentary Video Nasties: Moral Panic, Censorship and Videotape, as well as screenings of controversial shockers The Evil Dead, The Exterminator, The Beyond, Island of Death, City of the Living Dead, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and Tenebrae.

Pedants might point out that some of these films were never actually banned at all, but let’s not split hairs. The fact that these once-notorious films, considered so far beyond the pale as to have been successfully prosecuted as obscene, are now on TV shows what an arse censorship is. And sadly, it’s not going away any time soon…

The season runs of Fridays throughout November.
