The
1998 Godzilla was an atrocity
- a hopeless misfire that dragged the mighty Lizard's
name through the mud. Now comes news that American
studios are to take another stab at Japan's greatest
cultural export.
The
good news - possibly - is that Monsters
director Gareth Edwards is set to handle the film.
Monsters was an impressive low
budget monster movie, though how Edwards would
cope with major studio demands is open to question.
The likelihood of Godzilla being played by a man
in a suit, battling it out with rival monsters
is slim.
The
real question is, with so many Godzilla films
already out there - including films made in the
last decade - do we really need this?
