Shadow

British horror festival FrightFest is branching out into film distribution, bringing Italian shocker Shadow – a brutal movie that wowed audiences at the last festival - to UK cinemas later this month.

FrightFest Features is a collaboration between the festival and distributors Wild Bunch, and the torture-themed Shadow will play selected UK cinemas from April 29th before it appears on disc a month later. Director Federico Zampaglione will be in London for the premiere at The Empire, Leicester Square. Fancy a preview? Check out the trailer (Flash required):

Breaking Nikki

Also launching – or relaunching – this month is legendary label Redemption, who have returned after some time away from the UK distribution scene.

The new label will have the same Nigel Wingrove-created photo sleeves that helped build Redemption’s reputation (and frustrate film art fans) in the mid 1990s, and will release a mix of new productions and classic titles – the first batch includes violent Argentinian movie Breaking Nikki, Jean Rollin’s Requiem for a Vampire and notorious British sleazefest Killer’s Moon.

Expect reviews of all these soon!
