25
years after his death, the works of legendary electronica
producer Conny Plank are being released as a new 4
CD set.
Plank's innovative work in the 1970s and 80s involved
self-made techniques and equipment enabling him to
create sounds years ahead of their time. His work
included production for bands such as Kraftwerk, NEU!,
La Düsseldorf, Brian Eno, Can, Kluster, Ultravox,
Devo and Eurythmics.
The new retrospective collection from Grönland
features 21 tracks from the height of Krautrock over
2 CDs, including Arno Steffen, Möbius, Rödelius,
Michael Rother, La Düsseldorf, Deutsch Amerikanische
Freundschaft (D.A.F), and NEU! . CD3 is a remix album,
while CD4 features a live performance given in Mexico
in 1986 by Conny Plank / Dieter Möbius / Arno
Steffen. The three formed as ‘Trioformation’
and performed a south American our sponsored by the
Goethe Institute. The show was the last taped performance
of Conny before his death in ‘87.
Who's That Man? A Tribute to Conny Plank
is released on 11th February.
