The SignalmanThe BFI has announced details of the much-anticipated DVD releases of the BBC Ghosts Stories series.

The first two releases will be on August 20th, with double bills of Jonathan Miller's classic Whistle and I'll Come to You, made in 1968, alongside the 2010 version starring John Hurt, and The Stalls of Barchester (1971) paired with A Warning to the Curious (1972).

September will see two triple bills - Lost Hearts, The Treasure of Abbot Thomas and The Ash Tree complete the original 1970s MR James adaptations, while The Signalman, Stigma and The Ice House complete the original series. In October, two more recent productions, View from a Hill and Number 13, will be released alongside a complete Ghost Stories from Christmas box set.

These classic chillers have been much sought after (with only three having had a DVD release before in now long-deleted editions), and come complete with extensive extras that include other rare TV horror treats. We should be bringing you full reviews shortly.
