The annual Adult Video News Awards took place at the end of January, and the big winner was The Rocki Whore Picture Show, despite the film barely getting a look in at rival Xbiz Awards earlier in the month.

The spoof film won Best Parody (Comedy), Best Director (Parody) for Brad Armstrong, Best Screenplay – Parody (Brad Armstrong & Hank Shenanigan), Best Art Direction, Best DVD Extras, Best Editing, Best Non-Sex Performance (James Barhtolet) and Best Overall Marketing Campaign.

Other significant (for Strange Things readers at least) winners amongst the myriad of categories were Portrait of a Call Girl, which took Best Feature, Best Director – Feature (Graham Travis) and Best Actress (Jessie Andrews); Asa Akira Is Insatiable (Best Director – Non Feature – Mason); Grindhouse XXX (Best Comedy), Elvis XXX: A Porn Parody (Best Actor – Dale DaBone); Spider-Man XXX: A Porn Parody (Best Parody – Drama); Bobbi Star (Female Performer of the Year); and Axel Braun (Director of the Year – Body of Work). All of which goes to show the continuing dominance of parody films in the industry.
