Hobo with a ShotgunFantastic literature event Alt. Fiction returns for a fifth year to Derby's Quad in June, with an extended programme that includes collaborations with the Mayhem festival for a collection of rare television horror and cult movies, including the much-anticipated Hobo with a Shotgun.

The event features a series of panel discussion, workshops and other events with leading horror, science fiction and fantasy writers over two days. This years Guests of Honour are science fiction author Alastair Reynolds and acclaimed comic book writer and novelist Dan Abnett, with many other top writers scheduled to attend.

Mayhem's involvement includes screenings of rarely seen supernatural TV from the 1970s - The Exorcism, an episode of Dead of Night told in real time; The Photograph, a story by Nigel Kneale, told by Tom Baker; and the classic The Signalman. Saturday night also sees a double bill of The Cat People and Curse of the Cat People, and a late night screening of Hobo with a Shotgun that should sort the men from the boys.

The event runs 25th-26th June. Tickets are £30 for Saturday, £20 for Sunday or £45 for the weekend, and can be bought here.
