It’s
been some time since I heard anything by Kosheen, who were always
one of the more credible bands to emerge out of the dance scene.
Truth be told, I had no idea they were still around, and in fact
it’s been five years since their last album. But Spies,
the first single from new album Independence,
is a welcome return to form. This is a catchy, pulsating dance
track with a suitably dark edge that ensures it’ll work
for both dance clubs and more discerning venues.
The single comes with three additional mixes, which offer more
variety than you might expect. The Moth Equals remix is a stripped
down, moody, eerie reinterpretation of the song, while the High
Frequency remix is an old school dance mix. Both offering reinterpretations
that are work checking out.
