GG Allin MaskLooking for something unique to display at home and impress visitors? Or perhaps stuck for a costume party idea? If so, you might be interested in SikRik’s new GG Allin mask.

Originally released as a limited edition and now available as a standard version, the mask portrays GG as we know and love him - beaten, bloody and demented. Impressed at the whole idea of a mask based on punk’s most notorious rebel, Strange Things got in touch with the creator and asked him: what the fuck?

“I have always been fascinated with the psyche and motivation behind the presence of GG Allin” explains SikRik. “I was doing some shows in NYC with my band back in the early 90's. We did a gig at the Beowulf one night. The promoter said GG was coming to town and offered to put me and my guitarist on the list. I was quite aware of the legendary performances but can't say I was completely prepared for what I saw. I spent a decent amount of the show shielding myself behind a support pole and prayed not to make eye contact with the man. If you made eye contact with him you just may have had a big naked sweaty bloody guy diving at you!”

This started a lifelong fascination with GG, and when SikRik started to produce commercial latex masks, he decided to produce a GG edition because he “was an obvious choice because his image really lends itself to my medium. I shot Merle (GG’s brother) an email with a link to my site. He loved the idea. We discussed what era and look we would be attempting to recreate. He emailed me some reference photos and I started sculpting. We went back and forth with different versions and expressions and ended with what you see today. I gotta hand it to Merle. He really pushed me harder than I would have pushed myself. I've never really had anyone question my work before, so when we were in the process of sending versions back and forth he would have criticism for me that ended being the element that brought me to the likeness we ended agreeing on. The pictures of the final product really do not do these masks justice. You really need to see one in person to appreciate the textures.”

The masks have struck a chord with GG’s fans around the world it seems: “I have sold these to fans in Germany, France, Indonesia, Finland, Italy, Sweden, Australia and all over the US. I am waiting to hear back from a future subject and anxious to begin working on another tribute mask for another great contributor to the punk scene and innovator of music and style. Stay tuned.”

You can order your GG Allin mask here. You’ll have to supply your own shit and blood to smear over your naked body though.
